Here at Maive & Bo, we’re on a mission to show the expectant mamas of the world that maternity fashion doesn’t have to mean oversized t-shirts, stretch leggings, and your husband’s old hoodie. While yes, these styles might comfortable, we want to help you achieve both comfort and style. We believe your bump deserves nothing but the best, so we work hard to provide easy-to-wear styles that are not only amazingly comfortable and stylish, but are also versatile and perfect for wearing even after pregnancy while nursing.
Yes, we’ve really thought of it all, which is why it was so key for us to come out with some winter appropriate pieces. While the cooler temps may have you wanting to retreat into oversized sweaters and baggy sweats, we’re going to show you how you can style three of our favourite new pieces for an effortlessly chic maternity look this winter. Let’s dive right in!
We absolutely love our florals. To us, it doesn’t matter what the season, florals are a print that always works, especially in maternity wear. However, because we want this dress to be something that you feel comfortable in during the cooler months, we added long sleeves and designed it in a rich teal colour that just screams winter.
Have you fallen in love yet? We ‘betcha have, so let us give you some quick style tips to really bring this baby to life. To style this dress for an effortlessly chic look, we highly recommend some trendy booties, either in a neutral caramel colour or black. Booties will keep your toes warm, and your look put together. Just remember, there’s nothing worse than uncomfortable heels when pregnant! Always go with a low heel when possible. Also, feel free to add a dainty gold necklace for some extra style edge, and perhaps a light trench coat for those particularly chilly days, and voila, you’ve got yourself a winter look that is effortlessly chic!
2) Harlow Wrap Dress in Paisley
For those of you who aren’t into florals, never fear, we’ve got your back with our new Harlow Wrap Dress in paisley. Of course we love this new arrival because of the ultra-flattering wrap dress style, but we also love this print for something a little bit different. With this paisley print, you still get that boho flair that we’re so well known for, but it’s something different than the standard floral. Get yourself a Harlow wrap in both floral and paisley, and you’re golden.
Never worn paisley before? Not totally sure how to style this dress for winter? No worries, mama, we’ve done the work for you. To style your new wrap dress in paisley, we suggest playing with colour. Because this print is pretty loud itself, we wouldn’t suggest any statement making pieces, but some earrings in a pretty jewel tone would be absolutely perfect for winter. We also love the idea of pairing this stylish dress with a trendy duster coat for days when the temperatures really drop. For shoes, keep it simple with neutral flats, or a basic bootie, and tie it all together with a pop of colour in your handbag. With a black and white print like this, throwing in pops of colour is an easy way to add your own personal style spin on the piece.
3) Waterfall Knit in Black
Wrap dresses might be our ultimate favourite look for pregnant women, but that doesn’t mean we don’t realize you need other pieces in your wardrobe, especially for winter. With cooler temperatures on the horizon, there’s no doubt you’ll want to get cozy, and that’s exactly why we made our Waterfall Knit Cardigan just in time for Australian Winter.
If this piece speaks to you, you’re going to love how easy it is to style, because really, you can wear this piece with virtually anything. Yes, you read that correctly. Throw it on over the wrap dresses mentioned above, or even over a more form fitted dress, like the Luella, and your look quickly (and easily!) becomes perfectly winter appropriate. And the icing on the cake? You can even wear this cardigan after pregnancy, and wear it as a convenient nursing cover. It really doesn’t get much easier than this cardigan.
So ladies, tell us, how will you get your effortlessly chic look for winter? Like we said, just because you happen to be sharing your body with your babe does not mean that suddenly you have to give up your style. Replace your sweats and hoodies with stylish wrap dresses and cardigans, and your maternity style is going to flourish. Guaranteed.
